The International Centre & Student Support

To help you make the most of your studies we want to ensure you are fully supported before and throughout your time at Loughborough College. Help is available in a wide range of areas:
International Team
The International Office is near the main College reception. The team will help you to:
- Open a Bank Account
- Register with the Police
- Register with a Doctor
- Find places of Worship
- Support International Students and Tutors
If you need help and are not sure who to ask, call into the International Office.
Food and Places to Eat
- The College Cafeteria is open from 8.00am to 7.00pm and serves, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- Loughborough College's Futures Restaurant is another great place to share a meal with friends, during the day and in the evening.
- In Loughborough there is a wide choice of eating places e.g. Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai and many others. Take away food is also available e.g. Chinese, Italian, Indian, Pizza, Kebabs, Fish and Chips etc.
- Self catering in the College Halls of residence
- There is also a Chinese Mini market an Oriental Food Shop and a Halal butcher. Each Thursday and Saturday there is a weekly market.
- For students in Homestay, breakfast and an evening meal are provided.
Progress Tutor
Your progress tutor is the first point of contact for academic issues. They will meet with you regularly and ensure you are progressing with your course and achieving your goals. If you wish to make a university application through UCAS, your progress tutor will help you with this. You can also talk to your Progress Tutor about any personal issues which may be affecting you.
Learning Resource Centre (with free internet access)

Learning Resources Centre staff are always happy to help you to find information and use our facilities. Please ask if you need help.
We offer a varied range of study space. There is a main group study area, a silent study area, individual study rooms and a separate study room with computers which can be booked by small groups. There are 2 main computer drop-in areas.
We have a wide range of printed and electronic resources. Books and other materials can be borrowed or used for reference. There are special collections of popular reading, careers information, graded English readers, videos/DVDs, local history and staff development.
All students enrolled on College courses are entitled to use the Learning Resources Centre. Your student ID card is your membership card and you will need it every time you enter the Learning Resource Centre.
Multi Faith Room
Loughborough College is a diverse community of people from many countries, cultures and faiths. The College has set aside a room, which can be used by anyone for worship, prayer, meditation, reading or just being quiet.
Careers
For advice and guidance students can discuss their career goals and get help with planning by talking to our trained advisers. There is also information on careers in the Learning Resource Centre.
Course Representatives
Every year a course representative is selected for each course. The elected student will attend review meetings and share the views of their fellow students. It is an opportunity for students to have their say.
Ambassadors
We are always pleased to welcome new students to the College. If you wish to become an ambassador and show new students and their parents around the College you get involved and join our team of ambassadors.
Counselling Service
Everybody goes through difficult times now and again. If you are feeling lonely or homesick, it is ok to ask for help. The College provides a professional, confidential counselling service to help you deal with personal problems and support you in achieving your goals.
