AS and A-Levels

Chemistry Learner

AS and A-Level subjects are a 2 year course leading to degree study, starting in September of each year.

Students must be 16 or over with a Level 2 qualification - see qualifications page of the website.

Background

A-Levels are the traditional academic pathway to UK degree study.

A-Levels are assessed by written examination and will test both your English ability and your knowledge of the subject.

Our excellent reputation for A-Levels has resulted in a 96% pass rate in 2009. Many of our students progress to top universities in the UK; University of Oxford, London School of Economics, Loughborough University, Imperial College London, University of Warwick, University of York, University of Bristol. For more detail go to the Student Success section of the website to see which universities our students have progressed to.

Our A-Level students are keen to share their thoughts as one student commented in feedback to the college: "Teachers are passionate about their subject and inspire us to do well." Another student added; "The teachers are extraordinary and that`s the reason I did so well. I am excited about going to university but will miss my teachers at Loughborough College"

While studying an A-Level course, students receive free English Language tuition in addition to their chosen subjects. Tutors will also give you the advice and guidance needed to ensure that you apply for the right university course for you.

"I chose Loughborough College because of its good reputation internationally. It is also very friendly which put both my family and me at ease. The atmosphere is really good, teachers and support staff are very friendly and helpful. The facilities are really good and there are lots of activities to take part in. I want to study Economics at university"

Anh achieved two A stars in Mathematics and Further Mathematics plus a further A grade in Economics in the recent A-Level examinations and will begin her chosen degree programme in Economics in September. Congratulations Anh!
