This programme aims to develop your knowledge and experience of travel and
tourism, both in terms of its theory and practice.
It will teach you
everything you need to know about working within Travel & Aviation from
working in a holiday resort, to greeting customers to emergency procedures at an
airport. This would give you a better chance of gaining employment in this
exciting travel industry. Our Level 3 course will offer practical pathways and
progression into roles such as Airport passenger services agent, Cabin Crew,
Holiday Representative, Travel Agent to working on an international cruise line.

Assessment
You will be taught through a series of
lessons, including guest speakers and visits. You will work in groups, pairs and
independently, contributing to seminars and presentations to demonstrate what
you have learnt.
A variety of methods are used to assess your progress
including examination, individual and group presentations, case studies,
assignments, projects, work based assignments, developing learning resources,
and display work. You will achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade for each
module according to how well you cover the learning outcomes
specified.
In addition to your main City and Guilds Travel
qualification, you will also study an NCFE Cabin Crew qualification in your
first year, followed by English Speaking Board - Presentation skills for Travel
and Tourism in Year 2. These additional units will provide you with industry
specific training, increasing your chances of gaining employment in this very
exciting and growing industry. Your studies will teach you everything you need
to know about being a cabin crew member from meet and greet to emergency
procedures, you will learn about the skills and methods for delivering a
professional Transfer speech and Welcome meeting for customers arriving at
Resort on holiday.
The course is delivered by expert lecturers,
who have worked in the travel and aviation industry, as cabin crew, overseas
representatives and travel agency management. We have excellent links with East
Midlands Airport and Birmingham Airport for the recruitment of Passenger
Services Agents and Cabin Crew working with companies such as Swissport, Jet2
and British Airways. Students within this course also have the opportunity
to take part in a work placement with Eurocamp, in Italy, Holland, France and
Spain.

Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including either English or Maths OR Level 2 qualification in Travel and/or Aviation. If you do not have English and Maths at Level 2 on entry, you will be required to undertake these additional qualifications. As part of your study programme all learners will gain experience in a work experience environment.
